"Torment"/"Ready the Longboats"

I dreamed last night of a whimsical wonder,
with bolts of light, driving rain and the thunder,
that shakes the earth and moves mountains asunder,
with quakes and waves to pull all of us under.

I awoke this morning and all in my gaze,
was destruction and ruin in the city ablaze,
madness in the streets, today's the end of days,
and all will be one when we merge with the haze.

My eyes caught another's, both locked in fright,
as the ash caught the sky, turned day into night,
and from this point there's no reason for sight,
when black fills the sky and drives out the light.

It was there that I lay, my senses betrayed,
as the constructs of madmen were slowly remade,
and they'll rise once again under cover of shade,
to enforce their dominion 'til all are dismayed.

For now I am motionless, my ego undone,
here there's no happiness in a warm gun,
not guiding light from any star or son,
until death takes its toll and we all become one.

The dust has all settled, finds peace on the ground,
or makes peace, motionless, with nary a sound,
at least, for now, until a new king is crowned,
must we walk in the wind, until we are found.

\\\

We cross the seas in search of plunder,
Tearing down your barricades,
When you meet our steel and thunder,
All shall know our endless rage.

We've passed your city, put it in flames,
Scattered the serfs throughout your land,
And though we wander without names,
You'll know us by our iron hand.

Now drop your gold, run for the hills,
It's riches that we're truly after,
Although we get our fix of thrills,
As vagrants we will know no masters.

One by one, the runners fall,
To fatigue or by our force,
They are guided to the gilded hall,
As we remain the course.

And ne'er shall we trace our steps,
In part for what we've done,
Who shall cross our path accepts,
That we've already won.

All shall fall to the dragon's wrath,
No spear or sword shall pierce its breast,
But fear not, mortals, for in our path,
Lies little pain, but eternal rest.

So lay your weapons by the fire,
Only fools dare cross our arms,
Give us that which we desire,
And yourself will find no harm.
